Rozelle Interchange
The Rozelle Interchange, delivered by Transport for NSW, transformed a former industrial site in Sydney's Inner West into over nine hectares of new public parkland above an underground motorway interchange. Studio Colin Polwarth led the urban design and architectural elements, including the pedestrian and cycling bridges, tunnel portals, motorway control centre, and The Crescent Bridge — the first of its kind in NSW. The project reconnects the long-divided suburbs of Rozelle and Annandale through a landscaped landbridge, four new bridges, and integrated active transport links to the Rozelle Bay Light Rail Station. In 2025, it received the Australian Urban Design Award for Built Outcomes, jointly awarded by the Australian Institute of Architects, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, and the Planning Institute of Australia.
