Yellamundie
Captured over two days for fjcstudio, Yellamundie Library is a transformative community landmark nominated for the prestigious IFLA/Baker & Taylor Award as one of four nominees for 'Best New Public Library in the World'. The building's distinctive curvilinear form was inspired by the Georges River's gentle curve, with rippling surfaces and circular glazed windows that draw natural light while framing views of city and landscape. The multi-level design celebrates the ecologies of Country, from lush riparian landscapes to the Cumberland Plain's soft greens, with children's spaces positioned at the top in whimsical hammock-like lounges. This highly sustainable 6 Green Star building achieves environmental performance through a sophisticated five-layer glass skin with low-emissivity coatings and ceramic frit patterns.
