Darlington Public School

Darlington Public School, designed by fjcstudio, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 World Architecture Festival Building of the Year. Located near Redfern and Newtown, the school features linear brick forms and a curvilinear perforated metal screen defining fluid gathering spaces. The jury praised how "topography and landscape, inside and outside, form and materials, flow seamlessly in an unexpectedly delightful way." The design honours Indigenous culture through preserved and repainted aboriginal art murals throughout the building.
